Akram Aziz | Indian Fragrance Reviewer | YouTube & Instagram | Founder,
Aziz Aroma
My name is Akram Aziz. I am a fragrance reviewer based in
India, active on YouTube and Instagram, and the founder of Aziz Aroma — a
premium Indian attar brand. Over the years, I have dedicated my platform almost
entirely to reviewing Indian fragrance brands, Indian attars, and Indian
perfumes. And the question I am asked most often is simple: why?
Why focus on Indian brands when international names bring more views? Why spend
time on homegrown attars when global fragrance houses dominate the
conversation? Why choose the harder path?
The answer is rooted in something I believe deeply — and something I want every
Indian fragrance lover to understand.
India Does Not Need to Borrow Its Fragrance Identity From
Anyone
Long before the word "perfume" entered the English
language, India was already a civilisation steeped in scent. The art of
attar-making — extracting the purest essence of flowers, woods, and resins
through hydro-distillation into a sandalwood base — originated on this
subcontinent. Indian rose, Indian sandalwood, Indian oud, Indian saffron,
Indian jasmine — these are not raw materials that India exports for others to
refine and sell back to us at a premium. These are the foundations of one of the
oldest and most sophisticated fragrance traditions in the world.
And yet, for generations, Indian consumers have been conditioned to believe
that prestige in fragrance comes from a French label, a European address, or a
foreign-sounding name. The idea that choosing an Indian attar is somehow
choosing less has persisted for far too long.
I started my journey as a fragrance reviewer to challenge that idea — one
honest review at a time
What It Means to Truly Support Indian Fragrance
When people hear that I focus on Indian brands, some assume
that means I praise everything unconditionally. That is not support — that is
flattery. And flattery does not help anyone grow.
Real support means honest engagement. It means sitting with an Indian attar,
wearing it through the day, and giving the brand — and the consumer — a
genuine, unfiltered assessment. It means saying clearly when something is
exceptional, and saying equally clearly when something falls short. Because
Indian brands deserve the same rigorous standard that international brands are
held to. Anything less is not support. It is condescension dressed as kindness.
I have reviewed more Indian attar and perfume brands on YouTube than any other
fragrance content creator in this category. Not to claim a record, but because
there was a gap — a genuine absence of dedicated, honest, consistent coverage
of Indian fragrance labels — and I felt compelled to fill it.
Every time I publish a review of an Indian brand, I am making a small argument:
that this brand exists, that it is worth your attention, and that Indian
fragrance belongs in the mainstream conversation about perfumery — not at its
margins.
The Fragrance Community Deserves Honesty
One of the things I have learned over years of reviewing is
that audiences are perceptive. They know when a reviewer is being genuine and
when they are performing. They can tell the difference between a review driven
by conviction and one driven by a gifted bottle or a paid collaboration.
My reviews are my own. My opinions are my own. When I express concerns about a
product, it is not a criticism of India — it is a commitment to the Indian
consumer, who deserves accurate information before spending their money. When I
celebrate a product, it is because it has genuinely earned that celebration.
This philosophy — honesty as the highest form of support — is something I am
prepared to defend publicly and have defended publicly. I believe it is the
only approach worth taking.
From Reviewer to Founder: Aziz Aroma
My belief in Indian fragrance is not limited to words. In
building Aziz Aroma, I put that belief into practice. Every attar we create is
a direct expression of the conviction that Indian fragrance, crafted with care
and integrity, can stand at the very highest level of quality.
Aziz Aroma's collection is built on the same standard I apply in my reviews —
genuine performance, authentic ingredients, and real longevity. Every attar in
the lineup delivers 8 to 12 hours of wear. Not as a marketing claim, but as a
baseline we refuse to compromise on.
The brand and the channel are two sides of the same commitment — to Indian
fragrance, to Indian consumers, and to the belief that India's scent culture
deserves to be celebrated, not just preserved.
Why This Matters Beyond Fragrance
Supporting Indian brands is not just a fragrance
conversation. It is part of a larger, more important conversation about how
India sees itself — and how Indian consumers choose to spend their money and
extend their trust.
Every time an Indian consumer chooses an Indian attar over an imported
alternative, they are making a statement. They are saying that quality can come
from here. That craftsmanship exists here. That India does not need to look
outward to find something worth wearing.
I want to be part of building that confidence — not just in fragrance, but as
an example of what is possible when Indian creators and Indian brands take
themselves seriously.
India has the heritage. India has the ingredients. India has the talent. What
India needs is for its own people to believe in it — loudly, proudly, and
without hesitation.
That is what I am working toward. That is why I review Indian brands. And that
is why, as long as there are Indian fragrance stories worth telling, I will
keep telling them.
